Activity During WWII

Enlisted October 1942 as Air Cadet, transferred to Armor and Gunnery School, trained as crew member on B-24. Shipped to the European Theater of Operations June 1944, based in Italy and began bombing missions in July 1944. Missing in action on 11th mission, August 3, 1944. After the war, some crew members stopped by home to inform family that they were shot down in flames and no one saw Willis after they were hit. Half the crew were killed and the rest were Prisoners of War.
