Enlisted August 25, 1941. Basic training at Fort Eustis, Virginia. Military Police 677. Served 2 years in Puerto Rico with the 51st Coastal Artillery. Reassigned to the 75th Infantry at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Deployed to Europe in 1944. Served with the 7th Army, attached to the British 2nd Army and French 1st Army in the Battle of Ardennes and Central Europe, Rhineland Campaigns. Howitzer section chief on the 105mm Cannon Company, 291st Infantry Regiment. Awarded 3 Bronze Stars, Combat Infantryman Badge and the Good Conduct Medal. Honorably discharged on November 10, 1945, Jefferson Barracks, Missouri.
