MASTER TECHNICAL SERGEANT, AVIATION DUTY. INDUCTED INTO THE U.S. MARINE CORPS, DENVER, COLORADO, JANUARY 27, 1942. MEMBER OF THE FIRST AIRCRAFT UNIT OCCUPYING THE RUSSELL ISLAND AND SOLOMON ISLAND AREAS. SERVED IN THE SOUTH PACIFIC AREA FROM APRIL 18, 1942 UNTIL APRIL 27, 1944. HAD SPECIAL MILITARY QUALIFICATIONS AS AN EXPERT IN OXYGEN AND CARBON DIOXIDE. MADE SURE ALL PLANES WERE EQUIPPED WITH OXYGEN BEFORE TAKE-OFF. WEAPONS QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDED PISTOL EXPERT, FEBRUARY 24, 1942 AND RIFLE MARKSMAN, MARCH 7, 1942. HONORABLY DISCHARGED SEPTEMBER 1946.
