He fought with the 94th Infantry in Patton's 3rd Army. He fought the holding action at St. Nazaire in 1944. In December he fought his way West to relieve Bastogne in the Battle of the Bulge. His unit continued the fight into Germany and was in Dusseldorf at the end of the war. He was a radio man and was armed with an M-1 Carbine. He is a hero to his family.
