Joined the Navy in March 1943 (lied about his age; had just turned 15 on January 8,1943). Participated in the Invasion of Normandy June 6, 1944. Recipient of Victory Metal, European-African-Middle Eastern area campaign metal, Asiatic-Pacific area campaign metal, Philippine Liberation Metal, American area campaign metal. Was one of the first sailors to enter Japan after they surrendered. Discharged March 3, 1946.
