Inducted, basic training, Air Force gunnery school. Crew member of a B-24 Bomber stationed in Italy. Flew first mission and encountered engine trouble. Parachuted into Slovakia and taken in by the partisans. Stayed with them for approximately 6 months evading the Germans. Russian came through the area and was transferred to their authority. Met the American Embassy staff in Budapest. Received new clothing and my family was advised of my status. Continued on with the Russians.
