Recipient of American Theatre of Operations Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre of Operations ribbon (1 star), Philippine Liberation Ribbon, WWII Victory Medal, Amphibious Forces Shoulder insignia. Participated in the assault landings on the west coast of Okinawa, Gunto, on Easter Sunday, April 1, 1945. Was on a decoy ship that was in a typhoon, the ship went past capsize two times and another time the crew watched a torpedo go under the ship.
