Activity During WWII

With the Far East Air Force and 5th Air Force as gunner, radioman, bombardier and navigator. He was an air gunner on a B-25 in the Battle of the Bismarck Sea. Distinguished Flying Cross given by General Kenney for 131 combat missions. Flew in B-17, B-25, A-24 and A-20 aircraft. He was part of the Far East Air Force that arrived in the Philippine Islands immediately after Pearl Harbor. Flew combat missions in the Philippine Islands, Java and New Guinea. Crashed in New Guinea in a B-25 in 1942. Now buried at Golden Gate National Cemetery next to his father.
