Enlisted right after Pearl Harbor and was stationed on an aircraft carrier in the South Pacific for most of the Pacific War. One of many engagements included the Battle of the Coral Sea. In the Navy he moved up the ranks to retire after 30 years with the rank of Lieutenant.
