Served with the 1st Fighter Control Squadron in the Motor Pool unit. Served in Manila and the Fiji Islands. During his enlistment he was in the South Pacific aboard the USS San Juan. The ship was torpedoed and many lives were lost. He survived and received a Purple Heart.
