Joe left England in a glider and landed in Holland in September 1944. He marched into Belgium and was in the Battle of the Bulge in Bastogne. He was one of the lucky ones to survive. He was a member of the 101st Airborne, Battery B, 907th Glider Division, the 'Screaming Eagles'.
