Activity During WWII

Entered active service in October of 1940 from the Ohio National Guard as Regimental Sergeant Major. Served with the 147th Infantry Regiment, 37th Infantry Division in the Pacific Theatre. Fought the Battle of Guadalcanal as part of the Americal Division where he was commissioned Second Lieutenant. Later assigned to the Transportation Corps in the European Theatre, taking part in the build-up and assault of Normandy, Utah Beach D-Day plus 4. Promoted to 1st Lieutenant.
