Activity During WWII

Fireman on the Southern Railroad. He was killed in a train wreck September 4, 1944 at Avenstoke, Kentucky. This wreck has been blamed on the high use and shortage of materials of wartime exigencies. Locomotive broke a drive rod part that was poorly repaired and derailed. He had a strategic exemption, but was in the National Guard and expected to be drafted eventually. He was killed during but not in WWII, because of the war.
