Served as a machine gunner in the 32nd Field Artillery. Enlisted in 1939 at Fort Ethan Allen in Colchester, Vermont. The 32nd was assigned to the 1st Infantry Division at the start of WWII. Won the Bronze Star for bravery in North Africa. Saw action in Sicily, Normandy and Europe.
