Activity During WWII

Joined the Navy on December 12, 1940. Basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois. Made his way to Pearl Harbor where he attended submariner school. Was present on December 7, 1941 during attack on Pearl Harbor. Survived the attack and was later assigned to the USS Plunger (SS-179). Submarine sank an estimated 16 enemy ships. Also served aboard the USS Proteus AS-19. Was honorably discharged on May 19, 1946.
