Activity During WWII

KILLED IN ACTION ON IWO JIMA MARCH 13, 1945. HE WAS BLINDED BY A JAPANESE MORTAR SHELL. HIS BUDDY WAS WOUNDED AND UNABLE TO WALK; HE WAS UNABLE TO SEE. HE CARRIED HIS COMRADE, WHO DIRECTED THE WAY BACK TO THE MEDICAL TENT. HE WAS GIVEN AIDE TO HELP RESTORE HIS SIGHT. ONCE ABLE TO SEE, HE LEFT THE MEDICAL TENT WITHOUT PERMISSION. SHORTLY THEREAFTER HE WAS MACHINE GUNNED TO DEATH.
