PRIVATE 1ST CLASS. KILLED IN ACTION IN MARCIE, FRANCE. HE WAS MAKING SURE THAT HIS MEN WERE IN THEIR FOXHOLES BEFORE HE GOT IN HIS. BEFORE HE GOT IN TO HIS FOXHOLE A BOMB WAS DROPPED. IT HIT NEAR HIM, HIS FOOT AND PART OF HIS LOWER LEG WAS BLOWN OFF. HE DIED IN THE MASH UNIT WHERE HE WAS TAKEN. HE DIED OF GANGRENE. HE WAS 19 YEARS OLD. HE DIED ON NOVEMBER 8, 1944. HE WAS WOUNDED ON OCTOBER 20, 1944.
