U.S. Naval flight training for 7 months. Radio School and Gunnery School. Served aboard the USS Tate AKA-70 in the Amphibious Division. After completing training, left Fort Pierce, Florida and departed in 1944 for the Pacific. Samar, Philippine Islands, Liberation of Leyte Gulf, Kerama Retto, Ryukyu Islands, Okinawa and Ie Shima. Lost several ships in our convoys from kamikaze attacks in 1945.
