After 8 weeks of Boot Camp, Assigned Captain of a Gun Crew on a Merchant ship, which was sunk by Germans on his first trip out, picked up by Germans. Turned over to Japanese. Remained a POW until September 1945. Held on Island of Java, was a POW for 3 1/2 years. Deceased 1961.
