Activity During WWII

Drafted into the Navy on December 10, 1943, at the age of 33. He attended basic training in Newport, Rhode Island. He received further training on diesel engines at the University of Illinois and in Cleveland, Ohio. Stationed in Little Creek, Virginia before being sent overseas. During the war he served aboard the USS LSM 165 in the Pacific Theater. He was discharged from the Navy in Boston, Massachusetts on November 21, 1945 after serving 1 year, 11 months and 21 days. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal, an Amphibious Insignia, the American Theater Medal and the World War II Victory medal for his service.
