WENT OVERSEAS WITH THE LARGEST GROUP OF NURSES EVER TO LEAVE AT ONE TIME, PREPARING FOR THE INVASION OF JAPAN. FIRST ASSIGNMENT OVERSEAS WAS WITH THE 49TH GENERAL HOSPITAL AT THE MANILA JOCKEY CLUB RACE TRACK. BEDS FOR PATIENTS WERE IN THE STANDS, UNDER THE STANDS AND SHE HAD THE CRITICALLY ILL UNIT, WHICH HAD ONCE BEEN THE CLUBHOUSE.
