Activity During WWII

Served in Utah National Guard, 145th Field Artillery. In 1941, Unit was called into Federal Service. On the way to the Philippines, when Pearl Harbor was bombed. Among the first troops to land in Hawaii after the bombing. Served in Hawaii as 1st Sergeant; went to Officer Candidate School (OCS). Served in the Air Corps in the Aleutian Islands, stationed on small island of Shemya, flying as Gunnery Officer in B-24 over Northern Kurile Islands of Japan.
