Activity During WWII

Enlisted in the Army in 1939, at the age of 17. His stint was just about up, when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, and he re-enlisted to help train new draftees. Attended 13 weeks of basic training at Camp Wheeler in Georgia, and became part of the 103rd Infantry, 43rd Division, M Company. Discharged from the Army in Massachusetts in March of 1946, after five years of service. Awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal with six bronze stars, the Silver Star, two Purple Hearts, the World War II Victory Medal, the American Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
