JOE WENT ABOARD THE USS LEXINGTON CV-16, WHILE UNDER CONSTRUCTION IN THE BOSTON NAVY YARD IN 1942 AND STAYED ABOARD UNTIL AFTER THE WAR WHEN JAPAN SURRENDERED. DISCHARGED DECEMBER 31, 1945. THE USS LEXINGTON SERVED IN COMBAT MISSIONS IN THE PACIFIC. JOE EARNED 11 BATTLE STARS. THE USS LEXINGTON WAS HIT BY A TORPEDO AND ALSO HIT BY A JAPANESE SUICIDE PLANE.
