Activity During WWII

Served in the European Theater. Received a meritorious medal for saving crew members when his ship, the SS Parismina, was sunk in the North Atlantic on November 18, 1942. Sent to the Pacific where his ship, the USS Callaghan DD-792, was sunk on July 29, 1945. It was the last destroyer sunk in the war in the Pacific. Awarded the Purple Heart. Honorably discharged on July 31, 1946.
