Served in the South Pacific September 17, 1943 to July 4, 1945 with the 1045th Army Air Force Base Unit as an aerial engineer gunner. Saw combat in New Guinea, Southern Philippines, Luzon and China. Received the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Campaign ribbon with 4 bronze stars, Philippine Liberation ribbon with 1 bronze star, Good Conduct medal, Air medal, and WWII Victory medal.
