SERVED ON THE FRONT LINES OVER 800 DAYS IN 8 MAJOR CAMPAIGNS, WOUNDED 7 TIMES. RECEIVED BATTLEFIELD COMMISSION. AWARDED 4 SILVER STARS, DISTINGUISHED SERVICE CROSS, BRONZE STARS, PURPLE HEARTS, CROIX DE GUERRE. Awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously for his Heroic feat on 24 Jan 1945 in the Colmar Pocket Campaign in stopping six German Panzer tanks and 600 German Infantry soldiers. During three hours of battle in zero weather Lt. Conner killed 50 and wounded 100 until the enemy retreated, saving his Battalion from being decimated.
