INDUCTED INTO THE UNITED STATES ARMY ON NOVEMBER 20, 1942 AT FORT SAM HOUSTON, TEXAS AND DISCHARGED ON OCTOBER 18, 1945 AT HOSPITAL CENTER SEPARATION POINT, CAMP BUTNER, NORTH CAROLINA. SERVED AS RIFLEMAN 745 HAVING TRAINED AT FORT SAM HOUSTON, TEXAS. HE SERVED IN NORMANDY, NORTHERN FRANCE AND ARDENNES (GO 33 WD 45), AND IN THE RHINELAND AND CENTRAL EUROPE (GO 40 WD 45). HE WAS AWARDED THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL, THE DISTINGUISHED UNIT BADGE, THE BRONZE ARROWHEAD AND THE EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN THEATER RIBBON WITH 5 BRONZE BATTLE STARS. THE LAPEL BUTTON AND EMBLEM WERE ISSUED UPON SEPARATION.
