Activity During WWII

Lieutenant Hayward was a B-17 Bomber Pilot and served with the 8th Air Force, 379th Bombardment Group, 527th Squadron Lancaster, England. He flew 27 Combat Missions over Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. This Airman began his military career as an Aviation Cadet and graduated from Advanced Flight Training at Pecos Airfield Texas, receiving his Commission, Pilot Wings and the Rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He proudly served his country with Pride and Honor, awarded the Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters and the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Medal.
