Went to the South Pacific on USS O'Bannon, DD-450. Transferred to USS Tern in Bora Bora. We supplied Halsey's fleet with dry stores and aviation fuel. Our return to Pearl was to bring back 'cripples' - the USS Indianapolis and the USS Minneapolis.
