Activity During WWII

She enlisted in the WAAC in 1942, attended basic training at Fort Des Moines, Iowa, and graduated from Officer Candidate School. As a 2nd Lieutenant, she was assigned to Watertown, New York, to the Executive Office of the WAAC detachment, serving until it became the Women's Army Corps. Took a discharge to care for family member, but reenlisted six months later as a Corporal, serving at Fort Oglethorp, Georgia, and Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. She earned the Good Conduct medal, Victory medal, World War II Service medal, and Commendation medal for her military service. She was a long time member of the Women's Army Corps Veterans Association, Great Lakes Chapter 15.
