SERVED IN THE EUROPEAN THEATER. RECEIVED A PURPLE HEART WITH OAK LEAF CLUSTER; WOUNDED ON ANZIO AND SALERNO. SERVED WITH THE 83RD DIVISION, OHIO NATIONAL GUARD. ENTERED SERVICE 1940. LANDED IN AFRICA AND FROM THERE LANDED ON ANZIO, THE SECOND TIME IN SALERNO WHERE HE WAS WOUNDED AND SENT TO A HOSPITAL IN ROME WHERE HE REMAINED FOR A LONG TIME. FROM THERE HE WAS SENT HOME. WHILE AT THE HOSPITAL AND BEFORE HE WAS DISCHARGED, HE WORKED IN THE MOTOR POOL.
