SERVED AS AN INFANTRY SQUAD LEADER WITH THE PHILIPPINE SCOUT DIVISION IN THE DEFENSE OF THE PHILIPPINES. WOUNDED IN ACTION. SURRENDERED WITH HIS REGIMENT AT BATAAN IN APRIL 1942. SURVIVED THE INFAMOUS BATAAN DEATH MARCH AND THREE BRUTAL YEARS AS A PRISONER OF WAR. LIBERATED BY U.S. FORCES IN JANUARY 1945.
