Activity During WWII

Entered the Army on April 5, 1943. Assigned to the 153rd Engineer Battalion in Fort Lewis, Washington for basic training. Later assigned to Army Specialized Training Program at the University of Utah for training in German language. Sent to the 13th Armored Division in Camp Bowie, Texas and assigned to the 124th Armored Engineer Battalion. Left New York for Europe on January 17, 1945. Crossing interrupted by mechanical problems. Landed on February 7, 1945 in Le Havre, France. Awarded 2 Battle Stars (for Battle of the Ruhr Pocket and Central Europe), European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Returned to the U.S on July 23, 1945. Discharged on February 2, 1946.
