JOE JOINED THE 43RD DIVISION ON LUZON IN THE PHILIPPINES IN 1945. HE WAS IN THE HEADQUARTERS FOR THE 43RD DIVISION FIELD ARTILLERY. HE THEN WENT TO JAPAN WITH THE 43RD AS AN OCCUPATION FORCE. HE WAS TRANSFERRED TO 8TH ARMY HEADQUARTERS WHERE HE SERVED UNTIL HIS DISCHARGE IN 1946.
