Served from mid 1942 to end of 1945 in the South Pacific on the USS Belleau Wood CVL-24, USS Whitney AD-4 and USS Hancock CV-19. He witnessed the flag raising on Mt. Suribachi on a February 22 birthday. He received 4 WWII Ribbons, the Pacific Theatre of Operations with 7 Battle Stars. He was in Tokyo Bay for the signing of the Japanese Surrender.
