MEADE, MARYLAND. SENT TO ENGLAND AND SERVED WITH 466TH BOMB GROUP, 784TH BOMB SQUADRON AS AN AIRPLANE ARMORED GUNNER (612) FROM FEBRUARY 5, 1944 TO FEBRUARY 14, 1945. PARTICIPATED IN BATTLES AND CAMPAIGNS (GO 33, 40 WD 45) AIR OFFENSIVE-EUROPE, NORMANDY, NORTHERN, RHINELAND AND ARDENNES. MILITARY AWARDS AND DECORATIONS INCLUDE THE DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS, AIR MEDAL WITH 3 OAK LEAF CLUSTERS FOR EXTRAORDINARY ACHIEVEMENT, WHILE SERVING AS AERIAL GUNNER OF A B-24 AIRPLANE ON MANY BOMBARDMENT MISSIONS OVER ENEMY OCCUPIED CONTINENTAL EUROPE, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH FIVE BRONZE STARS, SHARPSHOOTER WITH PISTOL .45 CALIBER, AIR CREW MEMBER BADGE, AERIAL GUNNER BADGE AND THE WORLD WAR II HONORABLE SERVICE (RUPTURED DUCK) LAPEL BUTTON. HONORABLY DISCHARGED FROM THE MILITARY SERVICE ON SEPTEMBER 21, 1945 AT INDIANTOWN GAP MILITARY RESERVE, PENNSYLVANIA. OBTAINED THE RANK OF SERGEANT.
