HE WAS IN THE 88TH INFANTRY, 5TH ARMY. ENTERED AT CAMP GRANT, ILLINOIS 2-5-1943. WENT TO TEXAS, VIRGINIA AND TO CASABLANCA, NORTH AFRICA. TRAVELED TO NAPLES, ITALY, THEN TO FREE ROME FROM GERMANY. HE FOUGHT IN MANY BATTLES UP THROUGH ITALY. WOUNDED IN THE MOUNTAINS OVERLOOKING THE POE VALLEY. HE RECEIVED A PURPLE HEART OTHER RIBBONS, MEDALS AND BATTLE STARS. BECAUSE OF THE WOUNDS HE RECEIVED HE WAS SENT TO DRIVE AN ARMY TRUCK IN FRANCE. DISCHARGED 10-1-45 FROM FORT SHERIDAN, ILLINOIS.
