Served with the 56th Medical Battalion, D-Day Medics, in 6 campaigns: Algerian French Moroccan, Sicilian, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland, Central Europe. In addition to 6 Bronze Stars he was awarded the Bronze Arrowhead for D-Day landings. His all purpose Medical Battalion received Unit Citation for outstanding performance in a variety of assignments, including shore to ship trips in LST ships at Anzio. His unit also took part in evacuation of survivors from Dachau Concentration Camp.
