Assigned to Headquarters, 87th Armored Field Artillery Battalion. Entered Utah Beach, France on D-Day +1 (June 7, 1944). He was killed in action in Belgium. Received a Purple Heart and, posthumously, Croix de Guerre with a Bronze Star, by President Charles De Gaulle and a Bronze Star by President of the U.S.
