HE WAS STUDYING TO BE A PILOT WHEN THEY CALLED HIM TO THE ARMY. HE LANDED IN FRANCE AND WAS THE FIRST MAN SHOT IN THE 70TH DIVISION. HE WAS PARALYZED AND GIVEN UP FOR DEAD, WHEN HE PUSHED THE SHEET DOWN WITH HIS TONGUE. HE RECOVERED SOMEWHAT, BUT REMAINED DISABLE.
