Activity During WWII

Served as Master of Arms on Merchant Marine ships, traveling to various locations in Europe, Africa, South America, Scotland, Iceland and Asia. As a record of his four years service he received four campaign ribbons with two battle stars, which REPRESENT HIS PRESENCE AT losing a ship by German torpedoing in 1943 and a German bombing while at sea in March 1945. Wounded in this engagement, he received A citation for bravery after helping rescue a number of his shipmates.
