Activity During WWII

Inducted into the U.S. Army on June 21, 1943. Assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion, 298th Infantry Regiment at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. After basic training, departed for Guadalcanal January 1944 as a rifleman but performed duties as a stevedore, loading and unloading heavy ammo bombs. Later reassigned to heavy weapons Platoon, Company D, 2nd Battalion, 298th Infantry Regiment as Ammo Carrier heavy machine gun and Gunner heavy machine-gun. Returned to Hawaii December 1944. Honorably discharged July 26, 1947.
