In training of military personnel in the early days of WWII. Later, assigned to operations in New Guinea. He was the first casualty on December 20, 1944 in his division. Killed by an overturning truck in New Guinea while en route from a replacement camp to board ship for his final post of duty. He was 42 when he died.
