Activity During WWII

ENLISTED IN THE U.S. NAVY IN NOVEMBER 1942 IN RICHMOND, CALIFORNIA. HE WAS PLACED ON INACTIVE DUTY UNTIL FEBRUARY 1943. HE WENT THROUGH BOOT CAMP AT FARRAGUT, IDAHO AND THEN WENT TO TECHNICAL SCHOOL IN CHICAGO AT THE NAVAL ARMORY. ADDITIONAL TRAINING WAS AT TEXAS A&M, COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS. HE MAINTAINED, INSTALLED AND MODIFIED VARIOUS ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS, INCLUDING RADIO AND RADAR EQUIPMENT. STATIONED AT NAVAL AIR STATION IN EXETER. SUPPORTED THE LANDING AT UTAH BEACHHEAD WHILE ON THE USS BAYFIELD. HE ALSO SPENT SOME TIME AT THE NAVAL BASES IN ROSENEATH, SCOTLAND; NAPLES, ITALY AND SHANGHAI; OKINAWA. SEPARATED IN SAN PEDRO, CALIFORNIA. SERVED 2/43-2/46.
