SERVED IN THE EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS WITH COMPANY M, 119TH INFANTRY, 30TH DIVISION. SERVED AS A FORWARD OBSERVER FOR 81-MM MORTAR PLATOON, HEAVY WEAPONS. AWARDED THE SILVER STAR, BRONZE STAR, PURPLE HEART, FRENCH CROIX DE GUERRE, 6 CAMPAIGN MEDALS AND RIBBONS AND THE ARROWHEAD AMONG OTHERS. HE WAS SLIGHTLY WOUNDED BY AN AIR ARTILLERY EXPLOSION IN JULY OF 1944 AT THE BATTLE OF ST LO. SERVED FROM 1942 TO 1945.
