Activity During WWII

ENTERED THE MARINE CORPS IN APRIL 1942. SERVED IN PHILLIPINES, LUZON, NEW GUINEA, ZAMBOANGA. HE WAS WITH THE MARINE AIRCRAFT GROUP 32, MARINE SCOUTING BOMBING SQAUDRON 142. HE RECEIVED BRONZE STAR, ATLANTIC-PACIFIC THEATRE RIBBON. HE SERVED IN THE 5TH MARINE CORPS RESERVE AND RESIGNED JUNE 18, 1953 WITH THE RANK OF MAJOR. HE SETTLED IN SIVER SPRING, MARYLAND AND WAS A WORLD RENOWNED PHYSICIST AT JOHNS HOPKINS APPLIED PHYSICS LABORATORY. HE DIED ON JULY 14, 1974. HIS WIFE, MARGARET KOVAL ZMUDA SERVED THE WAR EFFORT 1942-1946.
