ENTERED SERVICE ON AUGUST 11, 1943. SERVED ON USS BARTON DD-722. TOOK PART IN JUNE 6, D-DAY INVASION, OPERATION OVERLORD (NEPTUNE. THE NAVY SEGMENT). TOOK PART WITH THE 7TH FLEET OPERATIONS AT LUZON AND THE CAPTURE OF LEYTE. ENGAGED IN BATTLES FOR ORMOC, MINDORO ISLAND AND LINGAYEN. SUPPORTED THE IWO JIMA INVASION. TOOK PART IN THE INVASION OF OKINAWA AND THE 3RD FLEETS RAIDS ON JAPAN. THE USS BARTON EARNED SIX BATTLE STARS FOR SIX MAJOR CAMPAIGN OPERATIONS AND SUBSEQUENTLY THE NAVY UNIT COMMENDATION FOR OUTSTANDING HEROISM IN ACTION AND SUPPORT OPERATIONS IN THE OKINAWA CAMPAIGN. DISCHARGED ON OCTOBER 31, 1945 AT LIDO BEACH, LONG ISLAND. STOREKEEPER 3RD CLASS.
