Gun crewman, heavy artillery. Served in the 59th Coast Artillery Regiment in the Philippine Islands for 18 months. Captured on Corregidor Island in May of 1942. Held prisoner of war in the Philippine Islands for 17 months and in Japan for 24 months. Awarded the American Defense Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, Philippine Defense Ribbon with bronze star, WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Citation with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters and the POW Medal.
