IN THE SPRING OF 1942, HE ENLISTED IN THE 5TH DIVISION OF THE NAVY SEABEES. SERVED IN THE PACIFIC, MIDWAY, THE PHILIPPINES AND BORNEO HELPING TO BUILD MILITARY BASES FOR OUR COUNTRY. HE WAS ALSO ON THE TEAM THAT HELPED BUILD THE JOHN ROGER AIRPORT IN HONOLULU.
